Road alignment is an important influencing factor of vehicle safety traffic, thedesign quality of road alignment decides the road safe condition. So as much aspossible to eliminate all security risks, we must design a better way linear highwaydesign stage. At present, the top-priority road alignment design method of ourcountry is the method of the design speed. The method is design road alignment by astationary design speed. But in fact, the vehicle speed in the course of driving maynot fixed, therefore, it has great limitations.The road alignment design method of the vehicle speed is studied extensively athome and abroad, it’s based on the realistic vehicle speed, fully considering thevehicle driving laws, pilot needs and road traffic conditions. Research on the statusof the road alignment and running speed at home and abroad after a complete analysis,then analyses the variation regularity of the vehicle speed on highway from theperspective of road alignment. Only the external expression of drivers estimate toroad alignment is the selection of vehicle speed. The key of this design method isvehicle speed prediction models, this paper introduces the research status of vehiclespeed and road alignment, then, proposes the vehicle speed prediction methodsbased on road alignment, analyzes the relevance between vehicle speed and roadalignment, gradually get the variation regularity of the vehicle speed. Based on theresearch results, build the vehicle speed prediction models by the method of linearregression. According to the resulting model, this paper proposes a speed controlmethod for linear conditions. Finally, relying on YIBAO Highway of built, someresearch results is obtained by the application research of the vehicle speed predictionmodels,and verified scientific and authenticity.
