With the rapidly development of national economy, the increasing of electricityconsumption,the continuous expansion of power system and the sharp rising of the shortcircuit current into the grounding device, the grounding system security problem is increasingseriously. Grounding grid can drain the grounding current into erath fastly and providereference of potential to the electrical equipment. Because of the substation grounding systemfor substation staff and equipment is playing an important role in security,it is graduallybecome the important link of the construction of the substation. And grounding resistance canmeasure performance and security of substation grounding system. Reducing the groundingresistance of grounding grid become the primary task of the substation grounding gridtransformation.This paper outlined the development situation of grounding technology at home andabroad and the basic parameters of grounding system fristly. It points out that the expansionof the power grid and the higher ground currentis the main cause of the grounding resistancevalue is on the high side. From the aspects of the principle, conditions of use, layout method,calculation method,security and economical, it research and analysis on the drag-reducing andoptimization method of the substation,such as using natural grounding body,epitaxialnetwork,drag reduction materials,deep-well grounding,electrolysis polar and expanding thearea of the grounding grid.It summarizes the selection standard of various drag reduction and optimization methodsof substation grounding grid by the above related research.This standard was applied to thesubstation grounding grid reconstruction project.According to the obtained after theapplication in the practical engineering effect, we can verify this standard if it meets the actualrequirements,and make the necessary preparations for further research in this field.
