| Leakage is a ubiquitous issue in water industry, not only wastes precious waterresources and causes economic losses but also makes water supply into low pressure,reduces the security of pipe and brings disaster to residents. The water supplyenterprises managers still cannot know the precise location, quality, reasons of theleakage. Therefore, reducing leakage of water distribution system has become animportant issue of concern to study in the water industries.This paper includes following research achievements:1. According to engineering example of the city of Shenyang, carried out acomprehensive survey on the water supply network of740residential districts in thecity, and choose63typical districts from which, after the collection of relatedinformation of their leakage of water supply pipe network, to summarize the results ofsurvey, current leakage situation of water supply pipe network of residential districts inShenyang is currently serious, and the average leak rate is36.4%, as the extension of thetime used of water supply network, the increase of scale of residential districts, leakageof water supply pipe network overall show a rising trend, led to the serious waste ofwater resources, and caused constantly increasing cost of water production of watersupply companies.2. Leaks in pipelines contribute to damping of transient events. That fact leads to amethod of finding location and magnitude of leaks. Because the problem of transientflow in pipes is nearly linear, the solution of the governing equations can be expressedin terms of a Fourier series. All Fourier components are damped uniformly by steadypipe friction, but each component is damped differently in the presence of a leak. Thus,overall leak-induced damping can be divided into two parts. The magnitude of thedamping indicates the size of a leak, whereas different damping ratios of the variousFourier components are used to find the location of a leak. This method does not requirerigorous determination and modeling of boundary conditions and transient behavior inthe pipeline. The technique is a new way to detecting, locating, and quantifying the leakof a pipeline.3. According to the analysis of residential water supply network in Shenyang,summarized the pipe leaking reasons and expression which includes of water supply nsystem fault, the poor quality of pipe construction, the changes of temperature and pipecorrosion. The measures for reducing leakage frequency and lowering leakage quantitywere presented from prevention, management, and control points.This method presented in the paper can be used for the management, maintenance, the renewal and transformation of optimization for distribution, is worth for social,environmental, economic benefit. |
