The knowledge and research of frozen ground is of vital importance to thehighway construction. With the global warming, the distribution of frozen groundall over the world is changing all the time. If we plan to build highway in the areaswith frozen ground, we must be aware of the damage of frozen ground to our project. Our country is covered with frozen ground almost everywhere. Therefore, researchon the essential technology for dealing with frozen ground roadbed and analysis ofsubgrade settlement are two main issues that are of great significance to theconstruction of highway in our country. And at the same time, this is also the focusof the whole graduation thesis. To start with, the thesis introduces the distribution status of frozen ground athome and abroad. In this thesis, we focus on the specific characteristics of frozenground, special reasons for frozen ground in northeastern area of our country, thedamage caused by dealing with frozen ground and the big influence of it on thedevelopment of economy and society in northeastern area. As a thing to mention, wealso introduce some sucessful experience in building highway in the areas withfrozen ground and the present situation of related research. Take the highway ofQianNen for example, we do research on the prevention of damage from frozenground and propose five schemes, such as clearing away frozen ground to fill insome sand, squeezing detritus, using concrete to stablize sand, using reinforcedconcrete, and creating bridges instead of highways. The conditions of theapplication for the five schemes above and the methods of construction are speciallystated in the thesis here. Besides, based on the example of the northern part of QianNen highway, we know that there is frozen ground with a length of3480meters onend. Comparing the five schemes above, we get the excellent one. From this, we canconclude that we need to deal with the problems flexibly, and analyze the problemsaccording to the specific situations. At last, after years of observation, we make alist of observational data from replacement of the base, using water to stablize thebase, and using detritus. For this, we choose two fracture surfaces separately in thecase of Qian Nen highway to illustrate the real effects of different measures ofdealing with frozen ground.
