The hybrid structures of concrete-filled steel tubular frames and reinforcedconcrete shear walls framed with concrete-filled steel tubular columns (refer to asCFST hybrid structures hereafter) have begun to be used in engineer practice. But thethe seismic behaviour of the hybrid structures has not been fully understood.This paper adopts two different experimental methods to invesitigate the seismicperformance of the CFST hybrid structures. The following studies were conducted inthis paper:1、Three structural models were tested under either cyclic or pseudo-dynamicloading conditions. One specimen was concrete-filled steel tubular frame(called CFST frame hereafter), and the other two are CFST hybrid structures.Only one of the CFST hybrid structure was tested using pseudo-dynamictesting procedures, whilst the remainder were tested under cyclic loadingconditions. The obtained load-displacement hysteretic curves and skeletoncurves, the interaction of the shear wall and its frame, the straindevelopments of the steel rebars, steel tubes, and steel beams are analyzed.The test results indicate that the hybrid structures have very good ductilityowing to the existence of three subsystems that can work together.2、The test results obtained under both cyclic and pseudo-dynamic loadingconditions are compared.
