Changchun3circle road is the main contact channel of enternal traffic andurban traffic in Changchun city. Traffic volume of Changchun3circle road is heavy,and is mainly made up of buses and trucks. In recent years, with the dynamicincrease of enternal traffic and urban traffic, Changchun3circle road has appearedthe phenomenon that vehicles are often stranded and jams and there are differentdegree of diseases in pavement structue.To promote the coordinated development of regional traffic and to reduce thecentral district traffic pressure, several policies are mentioned in the TwelfthFive-year Plan of Changchun city. On the condition of keeping the same style ofdowntown, Changchun3circle road was planned to be widened and rebuilt, so as topromote the three-dimentional developments of Changchun3circle road, Changchun4circle road and the important nodes of urban main roads.Investigation of road condition, plan geometric design, subgrade and pavementdesign, drainage and anti-skid design and many other aspects are involved in thewidening and rebuilding project of Changchun3circle road. On the basis ofconsidering the climate, transportation, structures, materials and other factors in thisarticle, through the investigation and assessment of performance and service level ofthe old road and referencing to the the design requirements of relevant standards, areasonable widening and rebuilding project was determined. And performanceprediction and evaluation of the widening and rebuilding project was proceeded withthe M-EPDG design guide, thus the feasibility of the widening and rebuildingproject of Changchun3circle road was ensured.
