Emission of cars, industrialproduction, fuel combustion and air conditioners brings great damage on the urbanecological environment. Heat island effect also draws rising consideration and concerns.How to improve the city’s environment and promote city dwellers’ living standard hasbecome the primary task for city managers and planners.The disordered spread of Xi’an City is eroding its surrounding rural hinterland. Inrecent years, more and more farmland and forest land are divided into construction land.Farmers lost their lands which they depend on to make a living generation bygeneration. That’s also the reason that farmers come to city to find a job.How to protect suburban ecological green land without affecting city construction is abig issue in Xi’an’s development and construction.Since the21st Century, ecological green space in city is becoming more and moreimportant in the field of city planning.Systematic construction of city green space can play a positive guiding role in cityexpansion and development.Green space in city can improve the ecologicalenvironment and make city layout more reasonable.With the development of societyand economy, the depth and breadth of systematic planning and research on the citygreen space system have been improved to a certain extent. The integration of urban and rural construction and regional construction is thegoal of a city’s systematic green space construction.Awider range of ecological systemneeds to be built to improve people’s living environment through ecological means.As the most influential city in northwest China, Xi’an should not only be theleader in economic construction but also set an good example in sustainabledevelopment. Starting from the importance of city green space system, this researchcategorizes and analyzes current situation of Xi’an green space in Xi’an metropolitanarea to find out the pattern structure and the existing problems for development,seeking the solution to the contradiction between urban continuous expansion and ruralsurvival and exploring the strategies and methods of ecological green space constructionin Xi’an metropolitan areas to improve current green space construction thus topositively improve the entire ecological environment. Taking Xi’an as an example, hopethis research can be a reference for other cities’ green space system planning andconstruction.
