The air conditioning system for experimental animal room is cleaning airconditioning system, which needs full fresh air, precise control on temperature andhumidity, huge fresh air change rate and24hours operation per day. This leads to hugeenergy consumption of air conditioning system for experimental animal room.Therefore, reducing the energy consumption of fresh air system is the most importantway to realize energy saving for the experimental animal room. In this thesis, the effectof various heat recovery technologies on the exhaust air heat recovery for experimentalanimal room in different climates are calculated and compared. Combined with thecharacteristics of heat pipe, an integrated equipment composed of heat pipe and heatpump is proposed for the exhaust air heat recovery of experimental animal room, whichhas advantages in high efficiency of heat recovery throughout the year without leakageof exhaust air into fresh air. The theoretical analysis and technology development hasbeen carried out, which provides technical support for promoting the energyconservation of experimental animal room.The main work of this thesis includes the following aspects:(1) The effects of a variety of exhaust air heat recovery technologies used in theexperimental animal room are analyzed and compared, and the most suitable heatrecovery technology for different climates are summarized with the indexes of annualheat recovery quantity and heat recovery efficiency.(2) An integrated heat recovery unit composed of heat pipe and heat pump for heatrecovery from exhaust air is proposed, and the prototype with air flow rate of15000m3/h has been manufactured and tested experimentally. The experimentalresults show that the practical performance of the device achieves the designrequirements, and improvement on the device design and control strategies have beeninvestigated.(3) The heat recovery effect of the integrated unit used in different climates of theexperimental animal room have been analyzed and compared with current heat recoverytechnologies. The heat recovery efficiency of integrated unit used in Wuhan, Beijingand Harbin is about5.5,6.8and8.1respectively. Annual heat recovery quantity ofintegrated unit in Wuhan, Beijing and Harbin is20.6%,54.4%and31.6%higher respectively compared to solution spray cycle heat recovery, which shows greatadvantages in energy saving.The main work of this thesis is valuable in the design of exhaust air heat recoverysystem for the experimental animal room as well as the development and application ofthe integrated heat recovery unit.
