Huangshui river is also called Xining river, which is not only an important riverrunning in Xining city, Qinghai province, but also the largest first level branch ofyellow river upstream. Because of the geology condition and human activity, thewater and soil loss of huangshui river is serious. The sediment concentration is high,and the water is turbid. It can’t help improve the scene or culture of the city. On thecontrary, it restricts the development of the city. For the purpose which is “clean,fluency, green, beauty” of Xining huangshui river engineering, for the Xining’slandscape, for the ecological livable city, for the development of the tourist trade, thedesign in water purification of the Xining huangshui river starts up. For the largeamount of river sediment of the huangshui river, how to improve the condition of theriver sediment by the water-sediment regulation technology would be the start pointof the thesis.From the references, the sediment research and the water-sediment regulationare systematically studied and known. Taking example by typical engineering case,combining the real condition of huangshui river, it is put forward that the idea ofdesign in separation of clear water and muddy water. The quality, source and amountof water, flow amount of each sediment transport corridor in the water purificationengineering are analysed. The scale and scope of project is ensured by scientificmethods.It is the first time to analyse the sediment sample on the river bed in huangshuiriver systematically. It fills in a gap of the research on bed sediment gradation inhuangshui river. Meanwhile, combining with the sediment data of hydrological stationon site, it studies the main sediment source of huangshui river in xining stretch,calculates and analysis the characteristic of suspended load, bed load andsedimentation. It is the informative technical support of the water purification designengineering in sediment. Among them, the quantitative analysis of the criticalsediment concentration between clear and muddy water of the huangshui river wouldbe the basis determining the water quality standard in the water purificationengineering.The principle of the engineering design is “conform the plan, keep with the realconditions, calculate technically, layout reasonably”. By the engineering of taking advantage of the deposit of bed load in main channel, regulation of suspended load inbasin, separation of fine sediment in wetland, it makes small flow into river,ecological protection and landscape water come true. And then, separate the highsediment stable flow amount water into desilting gallery by canal head separationengineering. Reach the purpose which is the separation of clear water and muddywater and clear water through the city by the separation of clear water and muddywater control engineering of beichuan river and nanchuan river. And when the floodcomes, the main channel and desilting gallery will get together. They ensure that thesafety of xining flood control.The process of the river water and sediment has the characteristic of sustainablemobility. The process of water and sediment regulation should be made full use of thenatural law. The water and sediment regulation of “water into the city” engineering isessentially establishing a sediment regulation volume to control and regulate theprocess of the river sediment transport. It combines the relation between water andsediment, improves water quality, so as to make full use of the ecological, engineeringand social benefits of the project. The bed load sediment regulation construction ofclear water source engineering mainly control the hydrological annual cycle of therarely thick sediment in the channel. The suspended load sediment regulationconstruction mainly controls the hydrological annual cycle of the rarely thin sedimentin the channel. Sediment wetland uses the water dynamics, biochemistry and othermeans to process the thin river sand further more, and gives consideration to therecover of the river ecological function. Three independent function are clear. Theyexist side by side and play a part together. It provides a comprehensive solution formuddy water returning to clear.
