With today’s industrial development, noise has become one of the hazards of pollution. Becauserequirements for motor performance and environmental quality have been increased, people concernmore about motor noise problems. With improvements in quality and environment of frequencyconverted permanent magnet motors, they have been widely used. While, magnetostrictive effect is oneof main causes of the vibration of frequency converted permanent magnet motors. So, it is moreimportant to reduce motor noise by vibration analysis of frequency converted permanent magnet motorsincluding magnetostrictive effect.First, the magnetic properties and magnetostrictive properties were measured for silicon steelDR510and DW470. Comparing properties of the two silicon steels, it can be seen that the magneticpermeability of DR510is bigger than DW470’s. So, this paper choose silicon steel DR510as the motorstator and rotor’ material. It could make the motor performance better. Then, using multi-physicscoupling analysis software COMSOL Multiphysics, this paper established a two-dimensional simulationmodel for the frequency converted permanent magnet motor at different frequencies, under consideringmagnetostrictive effect and no considering magnetostrictive effect. And, vibration acceleration, stressand deformation of the motor at different frequencies were calculated. From the results, it can see thatvibration acceleration of the frequency converted permanent magnet motor with consideringmagnetostrictive effect is much more than with no considering magnetostrictive effect, and so isdeformation. Finally, the experimental prototype was tested to research the vibration acceleration anddeformation at different frequencies. From the simulation and experimental results, we can see thatvibration of the frequency converted permanent magnet motor is obvious with increasing frequency, which verified the valid of the simulation model.
