Our country has vast territory and huge north-south span. Bad weather happensfrequently over the years, which results in transmission line accidents such as icingand conductor galloping. These accidents not only influence district power suppliesand even cause power blackout in many areas, but also lead to line breaking, towercollapsing and flashover that causing enormous economic losses. For example, theterrible snow disasters happened in2008, due to the transmission lines affected bythe snow for a long time, caused by icing and conductor galloping more than onehundred of the accidents, resulted in the large area national grid collapses, whichbrought huge impacts to the lives of residents, and cause the economic loss reachedmore than five hundred million Yuan. Thus, the on-line monitoring and stateanalyzing of safety status on icing and conductor galloping of transmission line, toprovide auxiliary decision support for management personnel and preventcatastrophic accidents, have great theoretical and practical significanceThe analysis on icing status of transmission line was discussed firstly in thispaper. We studied the construction process, use method and availability ofmechanical model with the aim of analyzing icing thickness and fuzzy neuralnetwork model. Two analysis methods were used to compute the icing thickness oftransmission line respectively under the same condition. Comparing the error valuesbetween two methods computing results and actual icing thickness, the mechanicalmodel was adopted as top-priority algorithm as its computation accuracy was higherthan fuzzy neural network model. In addition, the acquisition difficulty of allcalculation parameters of this two methods were compared. The conclusion showedthat the all calculation parameters of mechanical model were hard to obtain ingeneral case. However, the calculation parameters of fuzzy neural network modelcould acquire from on-line monitor data base. The fuzzy neural network modeltherefore should be acted as the alternative algorithm for icing thickness analysis.Second, the analysis method of the state on conductor galloping are discussedin this paper, on the basis of analyzed the advantages and disadvantages about thethree degrees of freedom model and curve fitting method, choose the analysismethod of the trajectory of conductor galloping based on curve fitting, which ismore practical, and further study of the principle and the usage method of the analysis method. And the direction change of acceleration was used to distinguishhalf wave number that appeared in conductor galloping track of transmission line.The conductor galloping curve was fitted in two dimensional flat according to halfwave number, and the conductor galloping track was fitted by the least squaremethod. Finally, use half wave number by curve fitting and waving amplitude todistinguish the state of conductor galloping warning or not.Based on above research results, the C#and MATLAB mix programmingtechnology was adopted, which realized the on-line monitoring and the warningsystem of transmission line icing and conductor galloping.
