With the rapid development of social economy and the growing spiritual andcultural needs, design continues to seek an innovation to reflect Chinesecharacteristics and spread the motherland culture. Gradually, Chinese designattractsmore and more attention and recognition worldwide. TCM (TraditionalChinese Medicine), as the creation of Chinese cultural characteristics, plays animportant role in the world medicine field.The purpose of this paper is to combine the Chinese concept of sanatorium andlandscape design, merge the Chinese element into design style and utilize thetraditional Chinese geomancy theory into design forms. In the introduction section, itgenerally describes the background and significance of Chinese landscape designofsanatorium.Now China is still a developing country, but the fast pace of itsdevelopment is evident to all."Made in China" has become a unique mark in theinternational market.China promotes the expansion of its international influence byits’ own culture with showing its increasingly powerful national strength.Landscape and architectural design are the aspects which reflect thehumanisticconnotation most.Its meaning is to achieve the combination of traditionand innovation in landscape and building.The emphasis in the design is neithercompletely reshaping the manifestation of ancient design, nor simply copying theWestern designs, but to find out the balance point between the past and present. Thusembody the traditional connotations and modernhighlightat the same time. Andwiththe traditional Chinese culturedesignphilosophy, landscape and architecturalaestheticforms are expressed by innovative wayof artistic vision and scientificsolution. The aestheticform of innovation expression is to combine the traditionalsymbols into the modern manifestations, includingthe cutting，deformation andreorganization on a variety of Chinese traditional elements which finally formed amodern aesthetic and innovative style. The traditional Chinese symbols, whichhidingamong the new forms by deformation，get the perfect balance of innovative"tangible"and the traditional “intangible" by integrating with the traditional Chinese geomancy theory.The key point of this paperis to express the breakingfrom the traditional formwhile embodying traditional connotation.These two opinionswhich seemed as thecontradictory forms of expression actually are not. Apparently,the Chinese sanatorium design concept is not new.However, by using the modernaesthetic expression form, adding the medicinal herbs as green plants into the wholedesignpresents a unique identity.Moreover, breaking the traditional symbols intoreorganization, creatingnew forms in the Chinese sanatorium architecture, landscapeand planning designnot only makes people gradually realize the profound Chineseculture, but also performs the new display image of the traditional culture.
