With the development of high speed railway in China, passengers care more aboutriding comfort while pursing high speed and high security. There are several factorswhich may have some effect on the riding comfort, such as vehicle vibration, carriagehumidity, lighting, and noise. When the passengers are on board, the vehicle vibrationdominate the vehicle riding comfort. The research focus on this vehicle vibration.As the people’s living standards are getting higher, the vehicle riding comfort hasbecome one important actor to judge the performances of high speed railway.Therefore, it is necessary to analyze the vehicle riding comfort evaluation method andstudy the different factors on the vehicle riding comfort.This research introduces thse methodology of vehicle riding comfort evaluation,including Sperling index and ISO2631evaluation methodology. With the field testingresults of Shanghai-Hangzhou high speed railway vehicle vibration, the ridingcomfort of running vehicle is evaluated based on the consideration of human sensitivefrequency.A vehicle dynamic model with6DOFs is established based on the multi-bodysystem dynamics. Using German Low Disturbing Track Spectra as external excitation,car body acceleration response is solved by a step-by-step integral procedure,Newmark-β method. Using Sperling riding index and ISO2631evaluationmethodology, the vehicle riding comfort can be determined. The effect of vehiclesuspension system parameters on the vehicle riding comfort can be analyzed withdifferent of vehicle primary and secondary suspensions parameters.A high speed railway vehicle riding comfort evaluation system software is builtbased on Visual Studio C#and Matlab, including system parameter input, trackirregularity simulation, system solving, riding comfort calculation. This system canperform the rapid calculation of riding comfort and results display.
