With the continuous development of the world, the manufacturing systems becomemore and more large-scale, complex, integrated and collaborative. Changes in marketdemand are becoming more frequent and unpredictable, and competition amongenterprises is also becoming more intense. To improve the flexibility of productionsystems, we must know how to make a reasonable production planning, which is a keyissue related to the survival and development of enterprises. The traditional ERP systemplanning mode is based on infinite capacity. When we make the production planning bythe system, the planner has to adjust the result each time, which cannot be directly usedin the production. This model is low efficiency, poor accuracy and difficult to adjust. TheAPS system planning mode is based on limited capacity. By formulating realisticscheduling strategies, the system can automatically generate an optimized, accurateprocess-level production planning. This model is highly efficient, with good accuracyand easy to adjust. In this thesis, the author explores and applies APS system, which is based on thetheory of constraints, to help a company in engineering machinery industry to develop adetailed, accurate, flexible production planning, and formulates a DBR scheduling modearound the bottleneck. Meanwhile, the author analyzes the key point in the application ofthe DBR scheduling mode, and proposes the scheme of identifying bottlenecks andoptimizing scheduling parameters by system simulation techniques. In addition, in this thesis, the author establishes a workshop production schedulingmodel for a company in engineering machinery industry, and ultimately achieves theoptimal DBR scheduling by optimizing the parameters of this model constantly usingSimio, a simulation software based on intelligent objects. Finally, by comparing theexperimental results of different schemes, this thesis arrives at a conclusion that DBRscheduling mode is an advanced scheduling mode and the simulation technology has agood auxiliary function in optimizing scheduling parameters.
