Firstly the paper discussed the development and research status of smallhorizontal-axis wind turbines, countries all over the world paid more and more attentionon large-scale and offshore wind turbines. In China, small horizontal-axis wind turbinesalso showed great prospects on wind-solar systems. The influence of blade number andblade pitch angle on small horizontal-axis wind turbines was analysis to improve theperformance of wind turbines.For two factors currently known, the paper researched the influence of blade numberand blade pitch angle on small horizontal-axis wind turbines. The tunnel and smallhorizontal-axis wind turbine were used to test3-blades,6-blades and12-blades windturbines. The torque measurement unite was used to measure the parameters, whichcalculated the power coefficient, of wind turbine in work. Then taper researched how theblade number, blade pitch angle and wind speed influence the wind turbine’s coefficientand achieved appropriate parameters of small horizontal-axis wind turbine. The resultdemonstrated that3-blades wind turbine performed poor at low wind speeds,6-bladeswind turbine rotated better at most wind speeds and showed higher coefficient,12-bladeswind turbine rotated easily at low wind speeds but showed worse performance comparedto the other two types.Small horizontal-axis wind turbines often yawed in operating condition. In order tostudy the characteristics of the yaw turbines, the experiments compared and analysis theperformance of the different types of turbines by changing the yaw angle. The resultillustrated wind turbines maintained good performance under small yaw angle, whichreduced the deflection device requirements. When the wind speed is too high to damagethe wind turbine, a larger yaw angle is necessary.
