In today’s world, environmental and energy problem increasingly serious, so agrowing number of new power generation technology has been widely studied. Amongthem, the variable speed constant frequency(VSCF) technology is currently one of thekey technology of wind-power, hydro-power generation.It not only can be paralleloperation, but also can run independently. In this field, brushless doubly-fedmachine(BDFM) as a new motor, can achieve energy in the case of brushless doubly-fedoperation, and the speed and power factor can be adjusted. It also has many advantages.So, in the field of power generation in VSCF, BDFM has great application potential.In this paper, the control method and hardware circuit of Wound-rotor BDFM hasbeen researched. From the basic theory of BDFM, this paper analyzes the basic principlesand the way of the motor running, derives the mathematical model, and simulates onvarious operating states of the motor, also analyzes the scalar control stategy. This paperfocuses on the control method of the rectifier part of Dual-PWM inverter. Its operatingprinciple and mathematical model has been studyed.Because the voltage from powerwinding is unbalanced, the power system needs a quick response. According to this, thispaper proposes a direct power control method which based on virtual flux. The principleof this control stategy has been studyed and its characters such as unity power factoroperation, fast dynamic response, and two-way operation, has been verified onMATLAB/SIMULINK. Besides; The excitation power controller’s hardware system isdesigned. The main control chip is TMS320F28335from TI, it is combined with therequired peripheral circuits.And the circuits of the Dual-PWM inverter is designed basedon IPM. Finally, this paper introduces a64kW Wound-rotor BDFM stand-aloneexperimental power system. The experimental system uses the power winding voltage andcontrol winding current double closed-loop control method. And the result shows thesteady-state and dynamic performance of the system can meet the requirements.
