Chaos theory in the study of nonlinear systems has occupied an important position,which can be found in many areas of its research excellence and practical value. For now,how can the power system be safe and stable operation, has become a topic of growingconcern, when the power system generates chaos oscillation will impact the stableoperation of the system, even bring huge losses to the whole interconnected powersystem. Since the power system nonlinear have significant characteristic, it will produceirregular chaos oscillation under some certain conditions. In order to overcome thedamage of chaos oscillation to the system, to ensure the normal and smooth running ofthe system, need to conduct in-depth analysis and identify practical control methods.According to introduce chaos phenomenon and its development process, analyzingand explanation the current research status, pointing out the purpose and significance ofthe research, outline the content and technical route. Analyzing the essence definition andbasic characteristic of chaos, make further explanation for the laws of chaos classificationand determination, highlighting the most widely used of several chaos control methods.Researching the typical chaos model of power system, based on different characteristic ofmathematical model to judge the conditions of chaos, and studying the path to chaos.Introducing the sliding mode control and fuzzy control theory and buffeting issues,selecting second-order mathematical model interconnected power system as the researchobject, using the sliding mode variable structure control. Since this method has thedisadvantage of buffeting, so adding fuzzy control rule to control process and designingfuzzy sliding mode variable structure controller, through MATLAB simulation platformto conduct theoretical and numerical analysis. Simulation results show that fuzzy slidingmode variable structure controller not only inhibit chaos oscillation of the power system,but also eliminate the buffeting, verifying the superiority of design.
