Conventional vehicle using fossil fuel, fuel vehicle exhaust emission is the mainsource of air pollution. The main countries of the world are making great effort tosolve the problems of air pollution; electric vehicle research is an important direction.Drive motor is an important research content of electric vehicle technology.Drive motor for electric vehicle needs to have high power density, high outputtorque, high efficiency, good speed control performance and other good performan-ces, permanent magnet synchronous motors(PMSM) can meet these requirements.Therefore, permanent magnet synchronous motors are widely used in the drive ofelectric vehicle.In this paper, a preliminary performance comparison of different motors is beingdone. Accord to the result of comparison, the built-in magnet rotor structure ofpermanent magnet synchronous motor is selected as further analysis of the object.Then introduced the finite element method for the next simulation using finite elementanalysis(FEA) software provides a theoretical basis.According to the requirements of electric vehicles and the performance character-istics of permanent magnet synchronous motor, this paper use the traditional methodto determine the winding type, the number of poles and slots, the rotor structure, theelectromagnetic load and other parameters. The performance of the motor is prelimi-nary calculated by circuit calculation methods. Then the performance of differentstructure built-in magnet rotor structure motor models is analyzed by using finiteelement analysis software.According to the different built-in structure of the motor rotor simulation results,this paper selects the structure of "V" type rotor structure for further analysis.Changing the wide of rotor magnetic bridge and other parameters of the motor remainunchanged, the performance of motor is analyzed by FEA software. Finally, theprototype is being tested. The gap between the test results and analysis results is small,and the correctness of analysis and calculation method is verified.
