Slamming is very popular in the area of naval architecture and ocean engineering.Slamming can be explained as collision of waves and structures because of relativemotion when marine structures dropping into water. Huge slamming pressure can begenerated in the moment of slamming, which will make local structure and wholestructure of the hull in very danger. When strong enough, slamming will lead to localstructural damage and threaten the safe sailing. So we must put enough attention on it.Slamming problems get enough attention and research before. This paper studythe mechanism of fluid-structure coupling in water entry of one stiffened wedge bodybased on the previous work using experimental and numerical methods. We designand build one stiffened wedge body to carrying out the model test, in which wemeasure the acceleration, pressure and stress. In the end we summarize an effectivemethod about slamming test and measurement. Through analyzing the test results, weget the law of the slamming dynamic response changing with the variation of velocity,water entry angle and the stiffness of the structure. A good agreement is generatedwhen comparing the pressure in test and in Chuang’s theoretical calculation formula,which verifying the accuracy of the test at the same time. A explicit finite elementcode is applied to study the loads on two-dimensional and three-dimensional wedge.Besides, a sensitivity analysis has been carried out by changing the weight of thestructure to getting the law about the structural response with different weights. Whatwe get has the vital significance in forecasting slamming loads and the hull structuredesign and in improving the numerical methods of stiffened wedge body subjected towater entry.
