| Pedestrian space is one of the most frequently used outdoor areas in residentialdistricts. The rationality of its design directly affects the overall environmentalquality of residential community. For thousands of years, because of its durabilityand beautiful appearance, natural granite stone receive special preference fordesigners and the public. In contemporary society, by the guide of sustainabledevelopment concept, exploring how to improve the rational use of natural granitestone and processing technology has important significance. The author long lives inGuangzhou, and engaged with the work closely related to residential landscapedesign in hot and humid regions. The study is carried out with residentialcommunity in hot and humid areas as the research scope, while taking into accountthe special climatic conditions of Guangzhou.The pedestrian space design has intimate relations with the quality of the wholelandscape and environment in residential community. Granite stone is common inpedestrian space, especially in high-grade residential quarters in hot and humidregions. Granite stone is everywhere, even to the point of abuse. Natural granitestone is a non-renewable natural resources. Over-exploitation will cause resourcedepletion and environmental damage. Therefore natural granite stone should be usedscientifically according to its physical characteristics and venues applicability,especially in hot and humid regions.The author analyzes the characteristics of pedestrian space in hot and humidareas and the basic nature of the granite stone. And full investigation is made on theapplications of granite stone in pedestrian space of residential districts in hot andhumid areas with Guangzhou as case study. According to the requirements ofenvironmental adaptability, we propose granite stone in pedestrian space in hotand humid areas should be processed for the purpose of its skid resistance andpermeability. And with case study, we propose countermeasures and suggestions onthe existing problems in the use of granite stone in pedestrian space in hot and humid areas.This article is divided into seven parts. The first part is of the background andsignificance of the study. The second part is about the basic characteristic of granitestone and classification of pedestrian space in residential community. The third partis to analyze the impact of humid climate characteristics on the use of granite stonein pedestrian space. Part four is the study of design strategy of granite stone inpedestrian space of hot and humid regions. The fifth part is on Selection Process ofgranite stone of in pedestrian space in hot and humid regions. Part six is on themaintenance strategy of granite stone. Part seven is some case study. Through theanalysis of the first six parts, some application methods is proposed. And combinedwith case studies, some problems existing in the use of granite stone in pedestrianspace of hot and humid regions are analyzed. Also we propose some applicationcountermeasures and suggestions. The innovation of this paper is from climaticfactors we consider and found the demands on pedestrian space in modernresidential communities, and consider the development direction of eco-friendly, onthe level of which the design theory granite stone is researched. Meanwhile, fromthe characteristics of granite stone and modern processing methods and technicallevel, we propose rules to the non-slip and porous pavement of pedestrian spacemade of granite stone under hot and humid climate. |
