In the context of the introduction of advanced technologies since reform and opening up,gas-steam combined cycle power units technology has grown rapidly under the guidance ofthe national policy that optimizing energy structure, reducing air pollution, moderatelydeveloping gas power generation projects in recent years. In order to improving theautomation level and economy of combined cycle power units, and to enhancing thecompetitiveness of electric power enterprise, automation plant start up and shut downsystem(APS) of the units received more and more attention and recognition as an effectiveway.The APS of f-class gas-steam combined cycle units of China National Offshore OilCorporation Zhuhai Gas Power Generate Co. Ltd was designed. Part I, first, gas turbines,steam turbines and boilers, the three main equipment of gas-steam combined cycle units, andDCS control systems were introduced, then the demands of APS were analyzed, the neededfunctions of APS were presented, and then the design targets, principles, concepts werediscussed. Part II, the functions of APS were designed. After the overall structure of the APSwas design, then start and stop process broken down into a few breakpoints based breakpointconcept, each breakpoint was realized by several functional groups which consists of severalsteps, and the allowed conditions before and after breakpoints and functional groups wereimplemented were proposed. Part III, the APS software development environments whichincluding Ovation software, AutoCAD logic configuration and Oracle database wereintroduced. Finally, the picture and logic of APS were realized in the APS configurationsoftware and the effect of the units’start and stop process was analyzed.The research results showed that: the designed APS not only letting f-class gas-steamcombined cycle units operate stably, reducing human intervention, ensuring personal safety,but also could enhance automation level, shorten the time of start-stop, promote the unitoperate in long-term and economic way.
