Data Generator Techniques Of Terrain Awareness Warning System

Terrain Awareness and Warning System (TAWS) play the importantrole in the flight safety. Its main function is to realize the plane during itsflight, the warning to avoid dangerous terrain, such controlled flightcrashed (CFIT) of accident can be avoided, which can ensure the safety offlight. With its wide application in the field of avionics, the performancetest problem of TAWS has become the point of the research.This paper exposit the background, development status, function ofTAWS. The TAWS system six alarm modes has carried on the detailedintroduction.The six modes can be divided into three categories accordingto the requirements of different scenarios: a given vertical velocitydecrease; a given rollAngle; low altitudes close to the terrain.Currently, the performance tests of TAWS rely actual data and needhigh cost. In this paper,answering the need of the flight simulation systemfor TAWS tests, we have use B747as the backgrou, combining withtypical warning modes of TAWS, and created Fixed wing6-D of flightsimulation:6-D model of aircraft movement and autopilot model.Also, the design of simulation scenario editor is completed. scenarioeditor include existing data generated in accordance with the terrain andgenerated terrain randomly, where the terrain is randomly generatedaccording to the principles of fractal geometry, the use of d-s algorithm toa random number and draw terrain.After the completion of the design of scenario editor, the flightsimulation algorithm and the software have been tested respectively underthe actual needs of testing three warning modes of TAWS. The results show that the system is effective and implements the simulation incentiveof performance tests to TAWS.
