An arbitrary wave generator (AWG) which represents the generic signal sources has become one of the most popular instruments in modern testing domains. AWG can not only produce conventional wave such as sine wave, triangle wave, sawtooth wave, etc, but also arbitrary wave of which the traditional signal generator is not capable. So we can find AWG broadly used in communication, space navigation, industry manufacture, etc.The powerful arbitrary wave output of an AWG mainly benefits from the development of VI which leaves the editing function of wave to the editor program run on a PC. In this thesis, an arbitrary wave editor is designed and implemented。It has many kinds of generating wave tools such as through mathematic formula, through wave storage, through hand drawing, etc. Besides, wave sequence combination, adding-windows, reversing, wave math and some other subsidiary functions greatly enrich the editing and processing capability of the wave editor. To sum up, the editor can generate various kinds of waveforms, regular and irregular as required.
