Based on the single track mathematic model and three degree of freedom model,thearticle aims at a multi-axle Wheeled armored vehicle,checking the characteristics of steadycornering,and using the MATLAB to analyse the Transient response characteristics of thevehicle in different simulation conditions,so masters The basic characteristics of thevehicle’s handling stability.In order to study the target vehicle’s handling stability more accurate andcomprehensive, the article builds a full vehicle multi-body dynamics model that containsfront and rear suspension, steering-system, front and rear tires, body,brake system andpowertrain by ADAMS module.Analyzing and modifying the front suspension structure ofthe car, and then studying the bouncing characteristics of suspension.Under a reasonableand accurate simulation model, according to the national standards, the virtual prototypehas been carried out six simulation tests on handling stability including step steer test, rampsteer test, cornering with steer release test, steady cornering test, snake test and steeringportability test, etc. Through step steer simulation test and other typical tests, several mainfactors are discussed in order to study the rule of vehicle parameters affecting on handlingstability, including mass gravity center height, the location of center of mass, springstiffness,the load, characteristic parameters of tire and front wheel alignment parameters.The simulation results show that handling stability of the vehicle is good.The Sensitivefactors of the vehicle’s handling and stability include the overall quality, centroidposition and tire’s cornering stiffness. By optimizing these sensitive factors,the article findsout the optimization scheme that makes the target vehicle achieve the best handling andstability.Thus, in the vehicle’s design stage, how to design these several vehicle parameters,making the vehicle’s handling stability reach a better level, it will be a question requiredparticular attention in the R&D process. The article has a certain guide on the research anddesign of Wheeled armored vehicle.
