In recent years, with the continuous adjustment of macro-economic policyof China and deepening development of the opening market, economy is driving at ahigh speed. At the same time, the construction of city process has made a great progressand enhance. Especially with the continuous extension of the development andexpansion of some large and medium-sized cities, the development of the whole cityconstruction gradually take on a new look–the medium-sized city developed ingroups. Based on a full research and understanding of the importance of this mode tocity construction of our country, group the layout has become an effective way ofChina’s urbanization and reduce the pressure of the central city, and then it has comeinto practice to accumulate experience and be promoted. The remarkable characteristicof clustered layout is making the way between multiple medium-sized cities or moreurban areas of large cities distributed multi-leveled, connected reasonable and improvedreliably. At the same time, the location theory of city traffic infrastr ucture plays moreand more important role in the development of city. This thesis based on a fullunderstanding and investigation of Zaozhuang City’s present situation of citydevelopment and traffic planning problems, tried to use the application of regio nalplanning theory, updated the plan thinking of widening the road, and made a research onthe planning and ways of small-medium cities’ road network.This paper discusses the current development status of Zaozhuang city and givesan outline of medium-sized cities’ development characteristic. Starting from trafficlocation theory, it makes an introduction of traffic location, traffic location lines andsome other items in urban road planning. Then, the paper elaborates the connection ofurban road planning and traffic location theory. With the form and classification of urban roads, it makes a deep research on the formation and characteristics of thegroup-type city in urbanization development. Finally, the thesis takes Zaozhuang as anobject, on the basis of analyzing the problem and researching status, discusses themedium-sized cities’ layout mode, traffic characteristics and roads network links, at last,with the location theory, creates specific and pointed solutions of road network plans.
