Since1999, China has stepped into aging society. The6thnational PopulationCensus in2010showed that the population aged over60years old was about0.178billion, which made up13.26%of the total population.“Report of China AgingPopulation Development (2013)” reported that by end of2012, the total aged populationis0.194billion, with8.91million increased compared to that of2011and took up14.3%of total population. By end of2013, total aged population have exceeded0.2billion–0.202billion in total, which caused the total percentage increased to14.8%accordingly.And it was predicted that by2050, total population aged than60in China will reach0.43billion and take up30%of the total population, which will also be a sign thatChina will step into a peak of aging society. The increase of aging population stimulatedthe increase of demand on aged people housing and retirement community. However, onthis area, the construction in our country is far away behind the real demand both inquantity and quality, which cause a great pressure in China on how to properly settledown residential problem for aged people. Building up comprehensive retirementcommunity will be an effective solution to let all aged people can live happily and giventhis background, the author of this paper executed an analysis and study on SpacePlanning&Design of Residential Constructions of Comprehensive RetirementCommunity.Firstly, this paper will introduce the background about comprehensive retirementcommunity and have a basic explanation on aged population and comprehensiveretirement community and also based on classification of aged people and nursinglevels to study the psychological and physical change of aged people and their activitycharacteristics. Secondly, by combining with national regulations and previous researchresult, the paper make a definition on what kind of residential construction is suitable for the aging society in our country currently and also based on this, sorted out thecharacteristic of the residential construction and residential mode for aged population,to set up the foundation for the study on space planning&design of residentialconstructions of comprehensive retirement community on this paper. And thirdly, thispaper selected a lot of excellent foreign cases on residential retirement community andexecuted research on them and then has an analysis on space and construction featuresof residential construction. And also by combining the data retrieved from fieldresearch, questionnaires and interviews on typical comprehensive retirement communityin Beijing, Shanghai and Hangzhou etc. big cities, the paper also analyzed andconcluded the current situation, existing problems and characteristics of planning anddesign of comprehensive residential retirement community in our country at this stage.And at last, by comparing the sizes and spaces of different comprehensive residentialretirement communities in China and other countries to study the system factors andelements of the planning and design of the comprehensive residential retirementcommunity. Meanwhile, the paper also worked out a planning and design strategy onbuilding up suitable residential retirement community in China, in compliance withChina’s current aging society reality. And all the result and strategy have been appliedon the actual planning and design of building up Cao Tang Temple retirementcommunity.The main achievements of this paper are focus on sorting out residential modes foraged people, classification and assortment on residential buildings for aged people.Strategy got based on analysis on sizes and spaces of different comprehensiveresidential retirement communities in China and other countries is hopefully to providereferential information for the study on comprehensive residential retirementcommunity study and research.
