The greenhouse effect and the shortage of fossil fuels are maybe the most severeproblems in the civilized world. For a long time ago decision makers are aware ofthese facts and they try to find the best economical and simultaneously the mostecological solution for these problems. Hydrogen as one of the possible alternativefuels shows with respect to its fuel properties, especially to weaken the greenhouseeffect, promising results. That is why, there is a lot of research done with relation to thehydrogen combustion in internal combustion engines. The combination of hydrogenwith other fuels can be a possibility to share the advantages of two fuels and weaken oreliminate the disadvantages of them. This thesis gives a comprehensive overview about the use of hydrogen and liquidfuels in dual-fuel internal combustion engines. Moreover, it identifies the well-knownproblems from conventional fuels, used in nowadays internal combustion engines andit shows the effect of the hydrogen addition on the engine performance, combustionand emissions.
