With the upgrading of the city and the constant improvement of infrastructure, as wellas restrictions on urban space, crossing the existing building built in the undergroundstructure was increasing, which required to use of underpinning technologies. It wasemerging as a highly integrated technology, involving a variety of disciplines, and whichconstruction is difficult, long duration, high cost and risk. Thence, it is essential forproposing strict construction and organization project throughout the construction phase, inaddition to carry out the whole process of monitoring, controlling to assure underpinningstructural system security.In this thesis, the research background of Tianjin-Binhai light rail underpinning withtwo piers, and its main feature was that the Tianjin-Binhai light rail could still operatenormally under the construction process, that is to say the piers were underpinned underdynamic loading conditions, and which made underpinning working more difficult, also itmust be ensured to the safety of the construction. Therefore, this thesis first introduces itsprogram selection, design ideas, as well as underpinning the structural design of the keyand difficult point. What’s more, it given the design methods of components andconstruction process which should have to pay attention, and given the result ofunderpinning works. Finally, it used the finite element analysis software Midas/Civil toestablish the Underpinning model of the Tianjin-Binhai rail bridge piers, and analysis of thestructure of the overall force as well as the construction phase structure underpinning thestress and deformation. The results showed that: the observed data and theoreticalcalculations data were in good agreement, and indicated that the entire structure in theconstruction process, also showed the structure were safe and reliable levels of stress anddeformation within the scope of the theoretical model calculations and scientific guidance.It provided valuable construction engineering experience.
