With the increase of scale and interconnection for power system, when the power system failures, the propagation range of fault will be greater and the harm it causes will be greater. Especially when complex fault occurs, information system of power system will produce large quantities of fault data into the dispatching control center. This situation has brought great difficulty in post processing for scheduling staff. Therefore, strengthening research of the power system fault diagnosis, to guide dispatchers to deal with failure, has a strong practical significance for the security and stability of the power system.This paper introduces the CEP to solve the problem of redundanat data but insufficient information in power system fault diagnosis. It can distinguish fault data of interlayer, the fault information of master substation and diagnosis conclusion of dispatching center. According to the characteristics of the existing fault information processing level, this paper proposes hierarchical processing model of information processing based on the CEP in fault diagnosis of power system. On this basis, this paper establishs abstraction layers for events of power system fault diagnosis and aggregation rules between layers with PAPIDE-EPL, a main event processing language for complex event processing. Power system fault diagnosis method based on CEP meets the essential characteristics of the fault information processing. It gradually processes fault data from three layers of the data layer, the information layer and knowledge layer. So this method reduces difficult to make the failure event pattern matching rules and strengthens the adaptability of matching rules. Moreover, this method improves the black box of fault diagnosis process.Gradually processed from the data layer, the information layer and knowledge layer 3 level fault data, reducing the failure event pattern matching rules difficult to strengthen the adaptability of matching rules to improve the black box of the troubleshooting process.For examples of local power system, this paper establishes a power system fault diagnosis system using StreamInsight, a complex event processing platform. The results of testing show the correctness and effectiveness of the presented diagnosis model and corresponding method.
