Surface as the first perception of the architecture, it is an important part that architects cared about. The methods of design for surface forms have broken through the traditional methods and have displayed lots of ways,following the recently development of the parametric design and its related theories,which has provided a new idea and bright future for the design of eco-architecture. It gives a kind of way to generate the form of surface quickly by combining the parametric design method and the simulation of the physic environment around the architecture based on coding and data analyzing,which providing a lot of choices for the architects.There are many ways for subdividing of the architecture surface.As one of these ways, subdividing by geometry plays an important role on the design for the architecture surface and becomes an popular method.It produces an beautiful view of art by applying the digital transformed mode of simple geometry based on computer science to the architecture surface.The methods of geometry including in my design are mainly fractal geometry, planar tilling and its related theories.Based on the quasi periodic planar tilling subdividing method,this design has integrated the parametric design and the physic simulation. After a lot of study, I have generalized many ways for surface design base on three different tilling prototypes and applied to different architectural forms.This design is structured by the following four parts:The first part is generating the surface net,which contains two aspects.The first aspect is the subdivision of the surface of the tilling prototype,by using the surface tilling package in the PanelingTools in grasshopper. The other is the formation of the initial net by decomposing the tilling prototype according to related geometry rules,which are realized by VB Script under grasshopper.The second part is the physic simulation.It is accomplished by inserting the initial net generated in the first step into the physic simulation software Ecotect for the analysis of sunlight,which outputs the Thermal radiation values of each net cell.The third part is the realization of the net combination based on parameter control.Using the data from the analysis of sunlight, I combine the net according to the geometry rules,which forms a hierarchical relationship,and realizes the ability for the different choices of skin material through the setting of threshold.The last part is the process for the adaptive function of the surface.In order to give significance meaning to surface in the view of function, I overlay the regular nets generated from different bay and floor height.
