At present, many scholars have tried to apply and research the theory of fractal geometry in architecture at home and abroad. However, there is almost none study of contemporary museum architectural forms based on fractal geometry theory.Museum architecture is a kind of public architectures with cultural attribute, artistry and popular attribute. In recent years, with the rapid development of China's economy and growing cultural needs, museum buildings, which are used to preserved and inherited culture, have entered a period of rapid development. The design of the museum architectural form is a creative work. The appearance of fractal geometry brings new thinking to the design of museum architectural form.It is say that the design of the museum architectural form based on fractal thinking is a new attempt.Fractal geometry is a natural geometry. The formation of fractal works embodies natural generation rules and abstract of natural beauty. These works have natural complexity and rich levels, meeting the needs of nature and humanity. Therefore, the application of fractal geometry thinking helps to enhance the artistic appreciation of museum architecture.fractal geometry provides a possibility for museum architecture to pursue natural beauty and enhance artistic appreciation to some extent.Museum architecture has cultural properties, using fractal design techniques to form cultural fractals and strengthen the cultural properties of museum buildings can strengthen the cultural properties of museum buildings.Based on the theory of fractal geometry, this study explores the external design of contemporary museum architectures, summarizes specific design methods and cultural fractal strategy to explore new ways for museum architecture to promote cultural attributes and appreciation of art. This article elaborates the related concepts, characteristics, fractal aesthetics, etc.of fractal geometry firstly. The main features of fractal geometry are self-similarity,complexity,roughness,scaling invariance, and iteration. In aesthetics,it reflects an abstraction of natural beauty,self-similar nested symmetry beauty, abundance beauty, and Iterative generation.Secondly, connect the characteristics of fractal geometry and fractal aesthetics, discuss the fractal features, fractal aesthetics, and cultural fractal of contemporary museum architectural forms which based on fractal thinking, and related cases are interpreted. The following conclusions are summarized: The contemporary museum architecture based on fractal geometry reflects the features of repetition and self-similarity and continuous scaling levels;it embodies the nested self-similar symmetry, scaling level recursion, mosaic rhythm features in aesthetics; In the cultural fractal, archetypal fractals, symbol fractals and cultural expression fractals can be carried out by means of fractals thinking,Depending on these can reproduce the cultural in the field or literature and then reflect it though the forms. In the end, from the fractal features, fractal aesthetics, and cultural fractals of contemporary museum architecture based on fractal thinking, summary the fractal methods of contemporary museum architectural forms, including: scaled juxtaposition, mosaic rhythm, learn from nature, and fractal iteration. The fractal of contemporary museum architecture forms can be started from the two elements of the body and skin of the museum building form, that is,the fractal method can be applied to the body and epidermis respectively, and be adapted to local conditions and be used flexibly in the process of application. This study has a certain theoretical significance and application value. On the one hand,it has a certain positive significance for the expansion of contemporary architectural design theory. On the other hand,it has certain reference value for practitioners who are engaged in or will be engaged in the design of museums or related cultural exhibitions.
