The Application Of Natural Material Texture In Contemporary Architecture And Interior Space

In modern architectural interior design, natural material is a commonly used texture. With design methods becoming more diversified today, people are paying more and more attention to the cultural reference, touch of nature, and the low-carbon, eco-friendly materials used in design. To meet this trend, the potential and energy of natural materials need to be rediscovered and relished. On one hand, regular natural materials can meet most people’s demand; on the other hand, innovative natural materials uses can inherit and broaden the scope of architectural design. Both the regular and the innovative can create an artistic experience of architectural interior space.In this thesis, we first look at the concept of natural material as design texture andcurrent researches on it. Next, based on real cases, we discuss and conclude different ways of using natural materials in architectural and interior design, and suggest different way of doing it in order to help pushing forward the development of innovative use of natural materials. Thirdly, we analyze natural material’s aesthetic meaning in architectural interior design. Lastly, we conclude the theoretic and practical meaning of using natural materials as an architectural and interior texture.
