As the social rhythm become faster day by day, it is a pressing need to finish the repetitive work with high efficiency and low cost in reality. Using computer programme to finish the repetitive work in terms of the data processing is a good method with high efficiency and low cost. Especially when there need to deal with lots of monitoring data in the field of dam safety monitoring, it will be convenient and efficient to deal with monitoring data in batches by using computer programme. In the dam safety monitoring work both at home and abroad, the analysts of safety monitoring data have to deal with lots of data. But when analysts do the work of removing abnormal data, drawing course curve and extracting eigenvalues, they need to do a lot of repetitive and complex work. In order to improve the analysts’ work efficiency and solve the problem of repetitive work when analysts deal with the data, there can make use of the powerful numerical processing capacity of MATLAB and use programming method to make a programme that can fit the data processing work in the field of dam safety monitoring. It can use MATLAB to make a programme that not only can remove abnormal data, draw course curve and extract eigenvalues for one set of data but also can do the work in batches. After programming and application, the programme made by MATLAB is fit for the data processing work in the field of dam safety monitoring and it can do the work of removing abnormal data, drawing course curve and extracting eigenvalues. The data processing efficiency has been significantly improved and the results also satisfy the requirement in the field of dam safety monitoring.
