High speed railway has been developing so fast that its speed is drastically increased. However, high speed requires high operation stability while it is offering convenience to publics. Vibration is the direct criteria for stable and undisturbed operation. If vibration is large, there will be a risk and passengers will feel uncomfortable when railway is operating at high speed.Focusing on current circumstance of collector in China and other countries, this paper purposed a design for monitoring vibration of railway based on field-programmable gate array (FPGA) and digital signal processor (DSP). The combination of FPGA that controls outside electronic circuit and DSP which processes and analyzes obtained signals fully utilizes the potential capability. The digital communication method between DSP and FPGA is serial peripheral interface (SPI). FPGA transports data to DSP and backups it to SD card for further analysis through SPI. DSP returns processed results to FPGA. The paper accomplished the circuit design of power board, acquisition and processing board and communication board. Due to the electromagnetic environment while the monitoring system were operating, the electromagnetic compatibility design was also necessary. In software design, FPGA and DSP, the core part, were performed embedded software development and function simulation. The first chapter introduces current situation for domestic and abroad collector and compares the distance between them so as to propose this topic. The second chapter generally illustrates the whole design and requirements. The third and fourth chapter elucidates electronic circuit design considering electromagnetic compatibility. The fifth chapter introduces software design and validates its function though self-designed signal to be tested. The results of function simulation demonstrate the designed system has real time capability, high effectiveness and wide applications and is able to durably monitor railway vibrations.
