Heavy duty railway transportation of its bigger volume and higher cost has been widely used in many countries. With the development of heavy duty railway transportation, its security has been concerned increasingly by worldwide. As one of the main components of the train, the braking system and its excellent performance will directly affect the transport safety of the train. Therefore, to ensure transport safety overloaded train, we must study the relationship between railway brake systems and managing of heavy duty railway vehicle, such as configuring a reasonable braking system, reducing the longitudinal impact of the train, to improve the relations of wheel and tile, etc.On the basis of the issues in heavy haul train pulled total weight is 30,000 tons and more, such as the longitudinal impact of train, braking distance in emergency and wheel-tile braking power, etc. this paper had been completed and achieved the following three aspects of the work and achievements:firstly, studying the reasons for generating the longitudinal impact in train, and establishing a simulation mathematical model of the longitudinal impact, then the author proposed to use electro-pneumatic braking (ECP) in heavy haul train because it could effectively reduce the heavy haul train longitudinal impact. Secondly, the author determine the wheel-tile brake power at first, then study and verify the emergency braking distance (1400m) and running speed (100km/h) of heavy haul train is reasonable. To improve the relation of wheel and tile, the author made an emergent turbocharged program and verify its feasibility by numerical simulation method. Thirdly, to establish the theoretical foundation of studying the heavy haul train brake system, the author research the measures of improving the performance and reliability of heavy haul train pulled the total weight is 30,000 tons and more through making and completing the standards and specifications of heavy haul train brake system, optimizing the brake product structure, completing the processing technology and application new materials etc.
