Passenger transportation center of Qingdao cruise home port is one of the most significant projects of Qingdao international cruise City. In order to guarantee the safety and serviceability under different working condition of the passenger transportation center, finite element analysis of complex spatial joints and integral analysis of s for other similar projects.Th steel roof were studied as application basis in this paper, so ao to provide reference and propose structure of the steel roof of the Passenger Transportation Center of Qingdao Cruising Ferry Base is long-span spatial structure. The memhers of the steel roof adopts deformed section. Taking the steel roof as the object of the research, the static and dynamic properties analysis were conducted by software SAP2000. With different load combinations, the static analysis was executed. Through the analysis, we can obtain the force distribution and deformation which showed that the design of the steel roof was equitable and the structure had certain safety margin; Wind load was one of the control loads in the design of the steel roof. Considing seismic action, the dynamic response analysis of the steel roof structure was conducted by soft ware SAP2000. Through analysis, we ccould come to the conclusion that the design of the structure was reasonable. And the horizontal stiffness of the structure is relatively weak. A lot of modals showed that vibration coupling and the frequency spectrum was intensive. During seism design, more attention should be paid to the influence of high-order mode.The steel roof structure of the Passenger Transportation Center of Qingdao Cruising Ferry Base has many special-shaped and tapered members which are welded directly to each other at most joints. The joints are complex space joint because the dimension is large and the geometrical relationship of members is complex. The preliminary design of the joints were used as the research object and the finite element analysis of typical joints were established with the software ABAQUS. The result showed that the stress of members was within the yield strength but the problem was that the maximum stress of joint core area is greater than the yield strength under the most load case. The problem was solved by increasing the strengh of joint core-region.The solution to the problem was increasing the thickness of joint core plate, adding stiffener and using high strength materials. By comparing these methords, we could get the best way to solve the problem, which can be reference for other projects.
