Energy efficiency of air conditioning system is a response to the national call for energy saving and emission reduction, and also an important way to slow the growth of China’s energy consumption. Temperature and humidity independent control air-conditioning systems(THIC) provides a new way for energy saving of air-conditioning. While, the problem we currently facing is how to configure the new system, so it is high efficiency. This paper based on a practical engineering of the temperature and humidity independent control air conditioning system, surveyed its power consumption of one conditioning season, analysed its energy consumption condition of refrigeration systems, transport systems and air-conditioning terminal, points out existing problems and proposed several optimization scheme. TRNSYS models of the dry fan coil with independent fresh air system, liquid desiccant with radiant ceiling system,desiccant wheel with radiant ceiling system, wet condition fan coil with independent fresh air system are built using the TRNSYS transient simulation software. According to the simulation result, compared to the traditional wet condition fan coil with independent fresh air system the liquid desiccant and cooling ceiling system has performance optimal, the air-conditioning system overall COP is 4.15, energy saving rate reachs 24.5%; the corresponding parameters of rotary desiccant air-conditioning system are 3.85 and 18.4%, while the dry fan coil with independent fresh air system using single chill cold source consumed even 3% more energy. As far as the way of air dehumidification concerned, cooling dehumidification needs lower chilled water temperature which limits the efficiency of the chillers, thus it is not recommended; energy saving effect of liquid desiccant dehumidification is more obvious. The energy consumption of the temperature and humidity independent control air conditioning system’s transport system will increase comparing to the conventional system.
