Modern optical systems are heading in the direction of more and more complex, which is on the optical components become increasingly demanding. Most of the conventional solid lens are too large, and its focal length changes slowly.Based on this background, people invented a smaller type of lens-a kind of liquid zoom lens based on electrowetting. This paper introduces the research background and electrowetting principle. This article analyzes the principle of electrowetting-based liquid zoom lens that the two liquids in the container can be integrally formed of a zoom lens. In this paper, the formula is derived by calculating the voltage obtained with liquid lens focal length relationship, as well as other relevant parameters influence. Based on centrally symmetric lens optical pumping principle, combined with the focal length of a lens derived formula, we modeled the structure of the liquid lens.Research when the voltage change, how the pressure and flow rate of the liquid change. Also studied when using insulating fluid of different viscosity, the response speed of the lens interface will change.The viscosity of the filled insulating liquid is 1 mPa·s,10 mPa·s,50 mPa·s and 100 mPa·s. From the simulation results, it is clear that, when the greater the insulating liquid viscosity, the longer lens response. We research that when using the insulating layer material of different dielectric constants, how the contact angle changes. When the dielectric constant of the used insulating layer material is 1.2, the maximum displacement amount of the center of curvature is 0.06mm, and the dielectric constant of the used insulating layer material is 2.6, the maximum amount of displacement of the center of curvature is 0.11mm. So when the insulation material dielectric constant is large, curved center larger displacement, the focal length of the lens model range is greater.Finally, we will extract out the aspherical interface data of the lens model with MATLAB. Then we enter it into the optical lens simulation software.The simulation results show that the index of refraction greater the difference between the two liquids, the liquid lens are more suitable for macro imaging.
