The eddy current loss problem in the power transformer which directly affects the performance of the power transformer is a very important problem and also a tough issue that need to be solved during the design. On account of the capability of unit transformer’s increasing with the enlargement of power system capability, research on stray losses caused by leakage magnetic field is very useful.The significance and purpose of the current loss are introduced in the beginning of this thesis, and then the development of the leakage magnetic field of the transformer are discussed. By using the theory of finite element method and power transformer, the large universal finite element software-Ansoft is used to analyze and calculate accurately the 2-D leakage magnetic field in the of transformer with building the 2-D leakage magnetic model after reasonably simplified, the maximum value of leakage magnetic was obtained in the gap, and the effects caused by the leakage magnetic field is discussed. The scheme proved in theory is feasible, and it provides the theoretical basis for the design of power transformer.Then the distribution of magnetic flux density along radial and axial direction of the high voltage winding and low voltage winding is concluded. On the base of the conclusion, the eddy current loss caused by the leakage magnetic field is calculated. The result is similar to the experimental one, so the accuracy of result and the feasibility of Ansoft simulation is demonstrated. According to the result, leakage-magnetic and eddy loss has been given.
