Nowadays with the rapid industrial development, the problems of stray field and stray loss in structural components and tank components are increasing with the enhancement of capacity of transformers. In the components, the inhomogeneity of stray loss is due to complexity and irregularity in power transformer. The inhomogeneity of stray loss can reduce the operational stability of power transformer and make the components in fault state of local overheating. Therefore, relevant researchers conducted a lot of experimental study and found that it is important to control stray loss effectively to make the transformers operate in a safe, stable, efficient way. According to the research, eddy current loss of box is the main source of stray loss. Thus, it is significant to study the eddy loss and stray field to ensure the operation quality of transformers.The main issue of this subject belongs to area of similar stable alternating electromagnetic field. Hence, the generation mechanism of stray field was analyzed by the theory of similar stable alternating electromagnetic field and finite element analysis. Then, two-dimensional simulation mode was established by corresponding rational simplification and ANSYS electromagnetic field finite element simulation software based on the model of SFSZ11-180/220 power transformer in reality.With the analysis of two-dimensional stray field mode, three-dimensional eddy loss model and the magnetic shielding of outer wall of the tank were established. The simulation result shows that the magnetic shielding of outer wall can reduce the eddy loss. At the same time, the tank wall shielding also made some progress. By comparison and analysis, the practicability was proved.By comparing the simulation experiment and measured data, the obtained results were proved, which is significant to engineers and relevant personnel in this area.
