Research On The Insulation Fault Warning System In Power Lines Based On Traveling Waves

Most of the insulation faults on power lines are caused by poor insulation, but few scholars had studied the technology of precise location for insulation fault in power lines at home and abroad. To solve the problem of insulation monitoring in transmission lines, the traveling waves generated by partial discharge in lines are detected, insulation weak points in lines are located by double-ended traveling wave principle, insulation fault warning are achieved, power supply reliability are improved.Firstly, by analyzing the line insulation failure mechanism, the features of traveling waves which were caused by insulation fault in power lines were got. According to the features that traveling waves is weak, the method of detecting the traveling waves which were caused by insulation fault was presented. Then, according to the amplitudes and the intermittent of the traveling waves, and the determinacy of the insulation fault positions and so on, the fuzzy logic control theory is applied to the insulation fault warning, the method for insulation fault fuzzy warning have been proposed, the amplitude of the traveling wave and the interval between two traveling waves which were produced in series were used for the inputs of the fuzzy warning, and the fuzzy rule library was established by the relationship between the two features and the degree of insulation fault. Finally, the insulation fault warning system in power lines were achieved,and high-voltage experiments that the sensitivity of the insulation fault warning system was tested for the insulation fault in the transmission lines with different voltage levels were done, the experiments results shows that the insulation fault warning system could be applied to insulation fault warning in the transmission grids with different voltage levels.The insulation fault warning system which was proposed in the paper can monitor the development process of insulation failure, which is significant for enhancing security infrastructure management, being strict with risk management, improving the level of anti-technology, reducing the probability of accidents, keeping transmission line safe and stable,and so on.
