Since the beginning of the reform and opening in 1978, China faces the challenge of large-scale modernized in the city’s old town across the country. This large-scale, extensive and high-speed modernized action severely damaged the ancient and modern architectural context that the old town historic city had formed, what’s more, a large number of modern architectural heritages which have important historical value, cultural value and landscape value, had built after the founding of New China has become a victim of a modern update process.Victor Hugo said, the building is a history book made by stone. The modern architectural heritage of Jinan from 1950s to 1970s is the material carrier of political, economic, social, cultural and historical in this period of Jinan. The material carrier records the tortuous trajectory of evolution in Jinan since 30 years after the founding of New China which is a crucial memory point to the entire city.1950s to 1970s the Jinan modern building is the precious historical and cultural heritage which has important historical value, cultural value, technology value and emotional value and use value. And it is also an important part of the city characteristics for national famous historical and cultural city of Jinan. Therefore, understanding modern architectural history of Jinan, adequately accurate assessment of the value of the heritage, has important academic value and practical significance, not only for the period of building the historical and cultural heritage protection and utilization of academic basis, at the same time also can provide theoretical basis for historical and cultural city protection of Jinan.This paper takes the 1950s to 1970s Jinan modern architectural heritage as the research object, Jinan architectural features of the modern architecture and the intrinsic value during this period will be researched.This paper has been separated into six chapters.The first chapter provides a briefly introduction to the research topic, methods and significance, illustrate the aims objectives of the research and also describes the related research results from the legislation protection, academic research and engineering practice.The second and the third chapter will classify the history stage of Jinan modern architectural heritage, summarize Jinan modern architectural heritage type, and connecting with the time background, analysis style and features of the modern architectural heritage during this period.The fourth and fifth chapter will focus on the value assessment from historical value, cultural value and technical value, point out the necessity of the protection and utilization, discusses the construction of modern architectural heritage value system, and analyze the problems of the distribution characteristics of modern architecture and protection, propose suitable strategy for the conservation and utilization of Jinan modern architectural heritage.Finally, the sixth chapter concludes a summary of the research results.
