As a clean energy to the environment protection and reducing air pollution, gas is becoming increasingly important. As the most important electrical equipment in power plants, generators and transformers of gas-fired plants being configured with reliable and sensitive microcomputer protection device is important requirement to meet the safe and stable production.As a kind of energy comprehensive utilization technology, gas-steam combined cycle unit has the advantages of high thermal efficiency and good environmental protection performance so that it is widely applied in gas power plants. At the scene of the specific implementation, the domestic gas power plant has used a variety of different principles of microcomputer protection system abroad. Because of the difference of thermal systems, it can cause generator-transformer unit protection configuration of the gas-steam combined cycle unit having particularity. This article clarifies the influence of different operation modes of gas turbine to generator-transformer unit protection by the analysis of the particularity of gas-steam combined cycle power generation unit’s boot process. The paper introduces the hardware configuration and principle of various kinds of protection, and it analyzes the implementation concept and calculation method of generator protection, the debugging method of generator-transformer unit protection device and typical cases in the process of the production run. Then the paper emphatically analyzes 7UM622 gas generator generator-transformer unit protection device from Siemens in the gas power plant and DGT801 generator-transformer unit protection device from Guodian nanjing automation co., LTD, and through the discussion of generator-transformer unit protection’s localization it improves the understanding of the design idea of generator-transformer unit protection. Finally, the paper put forwards solutions and suggestions of using DGT801 series microcomputer protection device from Guodian nanjing automation co., LTD substituting for 7UM622 generator-transformer unit protection device from Siemens.For the research of Siemens gas power plant generator protection’s design problem, it can lay the root for further promoting the overall localization and optimization of gas-steam combined cycle unit protection, and it can make for a safe and stable production of the gas power plant as a clean energy.
