Flexible AC Transmission Systems as an effective emerging technology to improve power quality, has been rapid development. The static var generator FACTS in as a core device, due to good control performance and compensation effect, making it a research focus power system FACTS devices. This paper is based on low-voltage distribution systems or industrial load compensation, Developed a static var generator. Which using direct current control algorithm.This paper analyze the necessity of reactive power compensation and advancement, describes the working principle of SVG based on VSC converter, Analysis of SVG control methods、control strategies and double loop control PI regulator, For Instantaneous Reactive Power Theory reactive current detection’s insufficient, proposes an improved detection methods, Research software PLL, Analysis of Single Synchronous Reference Frame Software Phase Locked Loop-SSRF-SPLL, Build Matlab/Simulink simulation model of SVG control system and do simulation verification.Then build a SVG experimental system, based on TMS320F2812DSP controller, SVG system of software and hardware design. Hardware, introduces the design of the main circuit L、C, Testing and control circuit, IGBT driver protection circuit design; Software, modular programming ideas, the main program and each routine module is given software design process.Finally, based on the direct current control strategy of SVG conducted experiments, Experimental results show that, The system is real-time distribution system required reactive current according to the reference current, better compensation performance. This paper provide a good means of accumulation and lay a good foundation for further research SVG.
