During the design process of the bridge, an important part of the design process is the bridge pier scour depth and scope. Calculation of scour depth of piers is a very complicated problem. Due to extremely complex flow structures around the piers and sediment start randomness, to get accurate prediction in the process of calculation is very difficult.At present, the domestic and foreign researchers have done a lot of research on bridge pier local scour, they adopted a lot of prototype observation and measurement, model test and numerical simulation obtained the formula of local scour depth under different conditions, on the pier local scour continued research has made a great contribution. With the continuous development of today’s computer technology, numerical simulation of its unique advantages will be rapid development in the study of local scourBased on a lot of reading the relevant literature about pier scour depth calculation at home and abroad, using computational fluid dynamics(CFD) to study the scour depth, mainly carried out the following work:(1)Calculation formula of bridge pier scour depth at home and abroad are reviewed in this paper, and the different environmental conditions appropriate to the various formulas are analyzed. In the calculation example, a different formula to give a variety of results, the new forecasting method of the research is necessary.( 2) Selection of standard k-ε turbulence model in fluent software for three-dimensional turbulent flow field around the piers were simulated. In order to get accurate distribution of flow field around the bridge pier, using write UDF program to calculate the riverbed elevation changes. Firstly, Local scour depth of bridge pier is verified, to test the applicability of the method. After the satisfactory verification results, some of the factors affecting the pier scour depth were analyzed verified.( 3) For the existing bridge pier protective method is briefly introduced,raised their respective advantages and disadvantages.
