Since the new century, with the rapid development of global industrial production, the situation of energy shortage is becoming more and more serious, especially for the developing countries, whether energy supply is sufficient or not determines the speed and potential of their development. While developed countries have been exploring energy saving and emission reduction for many years, getting a lot achievement, and the trend is being accepted by more and more developing countries, energy saving and emission reduction has become the major concern of these countries. For our country, the demand for energy is on the increase each year, causing the price of all kinds of energy was a significant increase and the costs of energyusing. Enterprises rapidly escalating, as a result enterprises are facing unprecedented pressure of competition in the market. For the enterprises, against the background that the energy cost is increasing, the utilization ratio of the basic energy should be further improved to reduce their cost and effectively cope with pressure of competition. The utilization ratio of waste heat is very low in the sintering process, process of many industries in our country.This study is about the utilization of waste heat in cooling belt of a certain tunnel kiln. The classification, structure and firing process of the whole tunnel kiln are analyzed in detail. The way of utilization of waste heat of tunnel kiln’s cooling zone is analyzed and optimized through the numerical analysis, obtaining the optimal layout of waste heat boiler, which can provide a guideline for the instruction of other tunnel kiln.First of all, the whole tunnel kiln is simplified, this paper assumes that all the hot air is taken out from cooling belt to the drying chamber to dry wet products. According to heat balance calculation of drying chamber, the required air volume was calculated.Secondly, a single kiln car of tunnel kiln in cooling belt is selected as a unit, using ICEMCFD software to model and mesh to the model. Encrypting the grids which have higher requirements to local computation. And then, flow and heat transfer is calculated by Fluent software. Choosing standard k-e double equation model of turbulence to compare and calculate between the DO(discrete ordinates)model and non-DO model. The calculation shows that the mode adopted in this paper can satisfy the given cooling condition of the imported products.Thirdly, the temperature field distribution of cooling belt of a certain tunnel kiln before and after reform and the influence of temperature field on the velocity field are analyzed pertinently.Finally, according to the result of calculation, the temperature reprograms in different location of the kiln car unit help to decide the form of waste heat boiler furnace tube. The calculation shows that the designed tunnel kiln waste heat boiler type and parameter can satisfy the requirements of the waste heat recycling, and it also provides an optimization arrangement of furnace tube and the corresponding heat transfer area.This study shows that the arrangement of waste heat boiler which be used recycling waste heat can promote uniform cooling of the products in the kiln. The unnecessary heat emissions are reduced and the economic performance of enterprise are improved after arrangement of waste heat boiler to recycle waste heat.
