As a new type of environmentally-friendly material, paper honeycomb has been widely used in many fields, including construction and packaging, due to its great advantages in its physical properties. With the rapid development of China’s construction industry and the conception of protecting environment deeper in people’s minds, it’s becoming increasingly necessary for new environmentally-friendly constructive materials to be further studied, developed and utilized.A new composite wall called Calcium Silicate/Paper Honeycombs wall is studied and designed in this thesis. Its production materials and process, the performance advantages as a wall for construction are introduced. By researching of the mechanical and acoustic properties of the composite wall, the best parameters are selected to meet the requirements of the construction of this lightweight wall. Thus a strong theoretical basis is provided for the products with further development and promotion.The following project has been tested to predict the properties of the composite wall, including the static compression test, the bending test, the shock test, etc. The crushing process is divided into seven stages, mainly presented as the crush of the honeycomb cores; Through the Bending Test, it is found that the common form of the damage, including the break of the panel, the degumming between the plates, and the crush of the honeycomb cores. Among them, the break of the panel is firstly manifested. In the shock test, the performance of the composite wall under shock loads is determined. Composite wall boards are not cracked in this test. In the test of “single point hanging”, the conclusion is drawn that the wall boards with thickness above 90 mm has the best performance.For the lightweight wall, sound insulation is a key parameter for evaluating wall performance. According to the theory of the acoustics, the sound-proof performance of both single-layer wall and double-layer wall are discussed. A composite wall model has been established in the analysis software ANSYS to analyze the effect of the acoustic properties. Some effective measures have been put to improve the sound insulation performance of the composite wall.Finally, the installation process of the lightweight paper honeycomb wall is briefly introduced. Compared with traditional constructive materials, the advantages of the new composite wall material are analyzed. By taking the application of the shop decoration as an example, social and economic benefits of the paper honeycomb wall are presented, prospects of broad application are pointed out in the building industry.
