With the steady development of national economy and the speeding up of urbanization, the rapid growth of traffic demand ever happened, which highlights the imbalance of supply and demand of traffic. But it is insufficient to solve this problem only by increasing investment of transport infrastructure. Therefore, an increasing number of researchers consider Park and Ride as an effective measure to solve the problem. Park-and-ride provides low cost or free parking space along with the higher level of public transport service, aiming at realize the switch from private car to public transportation, thus reducing the heavy dependence on cars, increasing the service efficiency of public transport and achieve the goal of relieve road congestion.Based on the case study of the Brecon Beacons National Park, this paper analyzes the influence of newly built park-and-ride facilities on tourists travel mode choice, and forecasts the demand of P&R facilities. Firstly, the article summarizes the research status of P&R at home and abroad, reviews the concept and classification method of P&R system, and focuses mainly on foreign P&R facilities within the rural areas. Then, by comparing the advantages and disadvantages and applicable scope of revealed preference method(RP survey method) and stated preference method(SP survey method), determines the latter is more suitable for this research. Then according to the survey, the probability of tourists selecting park-and-ride facilities is calculated. Finally this paper concludes that time and expense are significantly influencing visitors mode choice and strict measures like congestion charging are more effective on mode switch than carrot measures.
