Asphalt pavement skid resistance is an important indicator related to road traffic safety, a good skid resistance is an effective means to ensure traffic safety. But with the increase of mileage of road construction, high quality sliding layer material decreases. If local materials can be used, not only the cost can be saved, but also the local economic development can be promoted. This paper intends to use the rich limestone resources in Yunnan, make the asphalt mixture manufactured with limestone and basalt mixed-aggregates as the research object. The attenuation regularity of skid resistance under repeated traffic loading effect is analyzed.First of all, through summarizing relevant information about anti-skidding pavement at home and abroad, the skid mechanism, evaluation indicators and impact factors of asphalt pavement skid resistance are analyzed. Take limestone and basalt aggregate as the main object, the performance of material are tested. The significance of limestone and basalt aggregate mixed is analyzed. The blending combination program of asphalt mixtures with limestone and basalt mixed-aggregates is designed and the indoor simulation method is determined.Secondly, on the basis of comparing the advantages and disadvantages of indoor wear skid tester, the accelerated loading polished tester is developed by the research group. The indoor simulation tests of AC-13 asphalt mixtures with different combinations options and gradations are conducted. The texture depth(MTD) and pendulum coefficient of friction(BPN) of specimen are tested at a certain time interval to evaluate the skid resistance of asphalt mixes. The results show that the attenuation regularity of skid resistance in different groups is well consistent. It makes a large decrease in the beginning of the trial, then relatively slow and stable. The thicker of mixture gradation, the better of pavement skid resistance. The skid resistance of asphalt mixes with blending aggregate is superior to limestone, but inferior to basalt. The skid resistance of asphalt mixture can be improved by the mean of blending aggregates. The higher basalt blending content of asphalt mixture, the better the skid resistance will be.Finally, the parameters of international friction index(IFI) are calculated using PIARC model. The international friction index IFI(F60, Sp) is determined by the MTD and BPN. The change trend of asphalt pavement skid resistance can be well represented with IFI(F60, Sp), which is helpful for highway management department to make conservation decisions and convenient for international communication of asphalt pavement anti-sliding technology.
