In our country, the unilateral power supply is used in electrified railway, there exist neutral sections on the export of the traction substation and the section post. The neutral sections restrict the realization of the superiority of electrified railway, and have a negative effect on the exertion of the locomotive power and system reliability, even adopts the auto-passing neutral section technology, The neutral sections are still the weak link of the whole system. Studies show that the new-type cable traction power supply technology can extend the power supply distance effectively, reduce the interface to the power grid and the neutral sections, it is suitable for the operation of high-speed railway and heavy haul railway.In this paper, Firstly, the advantages, disadvantages and the development in recent years of all kinds of 110kV power cables were analyzed, the type of power cable for new-type cable traction power supply technology was confirmed, the calculation method to cable parameters and grounding mode of cable metal sheath for the system were given out. Then, the traction network structure, the method to traction network modeling and parameters calculation were given out; on this basis, in theory, the distribution of traction network current, traction network voltage loss, calculation method to traction transformer capacity, compensation method when no-load and the relationship between the cable charging current and load current were analyzed. Finally, the simulation model of new-type cable traction power supply system was built on Matlab/Simulink platform, the distribution of traction network current and traction network voltage loss were verified; the traction network voltage distribution when no-load and close running were analyzed, the cable ampacity was checked base on simulation data, the selection method to cable section and the arrangement of two-parallel cable loops were given out; the traction network voltage distribution and the maximum power supply distance of different traction transformer spacing were analyzed.
